Pacer Support Guide · Part 3 of 33
You Are a PACER, Not a RACER
Today isn’t your day to shine. Every step you take fuels someone else’s dream — and you are far more than just a timer.

It’s their race, not yours#
- It’s not your race: today is not your day to shine. You are here to support others, not to compete.
- Fuelling dreams: every step you take fuels someone else’s dream. This is their race, not yours.
- Guides, not competitors: pacers are not rivals; they are guides who help runners achieve their goals and create unforgettable memories.
- Plan and execute: stick to your assigned pace, which has been determined during pacer training by your team and coach, based on the route and terrain.
- Be positive: be a beacon of positivity, not just a metronome. Your smile and encouragement can lift others’ spirits.
- Support and motivate: support and motivate your team and all runners on the course. Your support is especially valuable for first-time marathoners.
You are more than just a timer#
You are more than just a timer – you are a cheerleader and a running expert.
- For a few hours, pacers are the heroes of those they pace. People look up to you and wonder how you can run so easily.
- You show runners the right speed to reach the finish line happily and with the least possible effort.
- You are the runner’s friend on the course, boosting their spirits and cheering them on.
- You make runners feel strong and unstoppable!
