Finishing: Let Your Runners Own the Moment

Today the spotlight is on your runners, not on you. Let them cross the line first — and remind them to smile for the photographers.

Remember: today the spotlight is on your runners, not on you.

  • With 500 metres to go, cheer your runners on to cross the finish line first. Let them have their moment in the finisher photos. Make sure you are not ahead of them and do not block the photographers’ view – for many it will be their first marathon finish.
  • Remind your runners that there will be photographers at the finish, so however tired they are, they should smile as they cross the line. These photos become treasured memories, and you, their pacer team, will be part of their victory story.
  • Consider taking a team photo after the finish – a lasting reminder of your shared journey.
